While it's much easier to gain weight than lose it, at Sports Health Northwest we are committed to helping you lose weight safely and keep it off.  We utilize the best medical treatments available and are committed to supporting you along the way. Small changes in weight can have significant effects on your health, and we want to help you achieve your weight loss goals.

Weight loss is in reach now more than ever

At Sports Health Northwest, we recognize that exercise is medicine. And we want to help individuals who are interested in losing weight to find the right balance of lifestyle interventions, such as exercise and diet, as well as utilizing medical therapy options, such as oral and injectible medications, to help individuals desiring to lose weight.

Being overweight has been shown to increase the stress on our knees and contribute to osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and difficulty with activity of daily living. According to the Arthritis Foundation, maintaining a healthy weight can reduce pressure on your joints.  They report that losing just 10 pounds can relieve 40 pounds of pressure on your knees.  Losing weight can reduce inflammation as fat is proinflammatory.  Losing weight can also reduce severity of arthritis as recent studies have shown that weight can also play a role in medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart health.  Studies show that weight loss of approximately 10% of your body weight, can result in significantly reduced pain affecting the weight bearing joints, improve function, and quality of life. Commonly, I discuss with patients who see me for knee pain that weight loss will likely help them more than any other interventions, like medicine, injections, or surgery.

At Sports Health Northwest, we are interested in helping our patients achieve their goals of weight loss, healthier living, and better enjoyment of life. To do this, we provide a comprehensive weight loss program that involves careful and thoughtful interaction with our patients to help them achieve significant and sustained improvements in their weight, while also tailoring the program to fit their unique needs and goals.

As we know, it can be easy to gain weight, but not so easy to lose weight. Let us help you lose weight through our personalized and individualized approach. We utilize the latest medication options and lifestyle interventions where appropriate to help you.
